WANTED: Your organizational skills for the PhD day

The organization of the 2012 PhD-Day, which takes place on August the 22nd, is gaining momentum. Lot's of ingredients are already in the mix, for example: speakers like Aubrey de Grey (SENS Foundation) and Ronald Dekker (Philips, TU Delft), companies like Elsevier Publishing and GlaxoSmithKline and many more. Still, there is much more to do and there is certainly still place to join the organizing team. What you could do: lure in that favorite high-profile speaker to fill those final slots, get that interesting company you want to work for in the recruitment sessions, put the final touch to the rooms in the Academiegebouw or make sure the evening party is exactly as you want it!

Rotaract Sports Day Groningen

Rotaract is a voluntary club for young men and women in the age of 18-35 years who engage actively in society and organize several activities to directly support and bring joy to people in need, next to organizing projects to raise money for charity. The Rotaract Sports Day Groningen is a project to raise money for the youth-sports-foundation which supports poor families to give their children the opportunity to be able to sport. For only 5 euros you can enjoy sports during the whole day in HealthCity! Moreover, several workshops will be organised, and at the meantime we will raise money for those children!

Where: HealthCity sportclub at the Westerhaven 46 Groningen (below the Mediamarkt)

When: Saturday the 21^st of April (this is also the first day of the National Sports Week), 10-17h

Costs: 5 euros

Castle 'De Haar' + Utrecht City Trip April 14

Spring has finally arrived, and it's good to leave our beloved Groningen every now and then. Would you like to spend a relaxing day somewhere outdoors? Then here is the perfect opportunity for you: register for our one-day trip! On 14th April, we will visit the beautiful castle 'De Haar' in Haarzuilens, and afterwards roam around in neighboring Utrecht for a guided tour of the city center. Lastly, there will be an optional group dinner in Utrecht.

When: Saturday April 14th. We leave from Groningen Central Station at 8.30 a.m. You'll be back in Groningen either 20.30 or 22.00 depending on whether you join the dinner or not.
Where: Meeting point = in front of Albert Heijn on Groningen Central Station
Price: PhD's € 24.- / Non-PhD's € 28.- This icludes all travel expenses, entries and tour fees.

Easter Pub Quiz 9th of April

It's the spring version of our good old pub quiz! All PhD's are pretty smart and knowlegable in their field, but are you just a bit smarter and also have a  hefty amount of trivial knowledge? Then team up with your friends and colleagues to beat the other teams this round. Winners will be celebrating with some drinks on the house!

PhD Talks - March edition

A monthly meeting of PhD students, PhD Talks, will be held on Thursday 22rd of March at 18.00 hrs in the meeting room of Plaza Danza.

You decide on topic of the meeting by voting before Wednesday evening, when we plan to announce the topic:

Note that you should vote only if you would like to attend the meeting as your vote is considered as your registration.

During the meeting free drinks for the participants will be provided! After the meeting, from 19.00, all PhD students are encouraged to join us for a drink. All the drinks will be at a discounted price of 2 euros.
